Description
The United States national cricket team, administered by USA Cricket, is one of the most rapidly developing teams in international cricket. As an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1965, the USA has recently begun gaining prominence on the global stage, thanks to renewed investment, a growing domestic scene, and a diverse talent pool. Cricket in the USA has seen resurgence due to its large and passionate immigrant population from traditional cricketing nations like India, Pakistan, the West Indies, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The team made its ODI debut in 2004 during the ICC Champions Trophy and has since been competing in ICC World Cup League 2, aiming for World Cup qualification. With the launch of Major League Cricket (MLC) in 2023, the sport in the USA has received a significant boost in terms of visibility, infrastructure, and international collaboration. Players like Monank Patel (captain), Ali Khan, and Steven Taylor have emerged as key figures for the side, combining talent with professionalism. Co hosting the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 with the West Indies marked a milestone for USA Cricket, elevating the sport’s profile across the country. The USA team continues to grow, with strong ambitions of becoming a regular and competitive force in global cricket.
