The Oman national cricket team, overseen by the Oman Cricket Board, has made impressive strides in international cricket, becoming one of the most successful Associate teams in recent years. An ICC Associate Member since 2014, Oman has rapidly progressed through the ranks, earning recognition for its consistency, professionalism, and structured development. Oman’s breakthrough came with their qualification for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2016, where they stunned Ireland in their debut match. They also qualified for the T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2024, and hosted several matches during the 2021 edition highlighting their growing influence in world cricket. Their ODI status, secured in 2019, allowed them to participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, where they’ve been a strong contender. Led by experienced players like Zeeshan Maqsood (captain) and Khawar Ali, Oman has built a solid squad of both native born players and expats, especially from cricket loving nations such as India and Pakistan. Their team is known for discipline, efficient bowling, and calm leadership. With growing infrastructure, including the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, and a strong performance record in ICC tournaments, Oman continues to emerge as a key figure in Associate cricket, aiming for regular qualification to global events and greater visibility.
