Description

The Nepal national cricket team, governed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), is one of the most passionate and fastest growing cricketing nations in the Associate world. As an Associate Member of the ICC since 1996, Nepal has built a dedicated fan base and gained recognition for its competitive spirit and rising talent. Nepal made headlines by qualifying for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2014, marking its first major appearance on the world stage. Since then, the team has consistently competed in ICC tournaments and secured One Day International (ODI) status in 2018, a significant milestone in their cricketing journey. Their performances in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 have further cemented their position among the top Associate teams. Led by dynamic players such as Rohit Paudel (captain), Sandeep Lamichhane, and Kushal Bhurtel, Nepal has showcased strength in both spin bowling and explosive batting. Sandeep Lamichhane, in particular, has gained international fame through global T20 leagues, bringing attention to Nepal's cricketing potential. Cricket in Nepal enjoys massive popularity, with packed stadiums and enthusiastic support. With improved infrastructure and ICC backing, Nepal aims to qualify for more global events and eventually compete on equal footing with Full Member nations.
